Career

Taylor Swift fueled the experiences of teenage heartbreak, curiosity, and angst into writing and singing hit songs which brought her stardom at a young age.
Swift grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania. As a child, she was inspired to start singing by her grandmother, a professional opera singer. At age 9, she developed an interest in musical theater. She tried her hand at vocal and acting lessons in New York City but found little success so she set her sights on country music. When she was 10 she began performing locally at talent shows, karaoke contests, festivals, and county fairs. At a young age she knew that she needed to develop her own unique style. So, she picked up a guitar at age 12 and started to write her own songs. Although she enjoyed her hometown, she dreamed of moving to Nashville where she knew her dreams would come true. At age 13, she started working with a New York-based manager and landed an artist development deal with RCA Records as an eighth grader. So, her family relocated to Nashville when she was just 14 year old.

As part of her RCA Records deal, she began sitting in on writing sessions with experienced Music Row songwriters. At just 14, she became the youngest songwriter ever hired by the Sony/ATV Tree publishing house. When she was 15, she left RCA Records, who wanted her to release music by other songwriters and wait until she was 18 to release an album. She later said that she felt like she was running out of time because of her desire to capture her adolescent life on an album with songs that represented what she was going through.
Described as the diary of her early teens, her debut album Taylor Swift was released in 2006. It was wildly popular among young girls as Swift, a child of the Internet age, promoted the album herself including personally responding to fan's comments and writing her own blog. Her songs “Our Song,” “Tim McGraw,” “Teardrops on My Guitar,” “Picture to Burn,” and “Should've Said No” were all highly successful on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart. She debuted on the Grand Ole Opry House stage on September 1, 2006.
In 2007, Swift was the youngest person to be honored with the Nashville Songwriter Association's Songwriter/Artist of the Year. In 2008, she released her second album Fearless with the hit songs, “Love Story,” “Fifteen,” “White Horse,” and “You Belong with Me,” all of which propelled her career to a level not seen by many young country artists. In 2009, she became the youngest person to win the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year Award.

In 2010, she released her third studio album, Speak Now, which she wrote all 12 songs by herself. The album was very well received. Then in 2012, she released Red. Swift has received six Grammy Awards, ten American Music Awards, seven Country Music Association Award
s, six Academy of Country Music Awards, and thirteen Broadcast Music, Inc. Awards.
